Dan Kennedy Marketing Strategy #8

A special offer must expire or it isn’t special.

Kennedy stresses:

“If you’re going to make a special offer, you’ve got to have an expriation date, and make a big deal out of that date. Alternative approaches either give some extra benefit for fast response or impose a pensalty for tardy response. One way or another you need a time element to create a sense of urgency in the customer’s mind. You do not want him to feel he has the luxury to mull things over. When you deliver your message, you don’t want them to think they can set your message aside to look at later; later never comes. Your job is to inspire immediate action!”

His Corollary: “Make every offer special in some way. One time I made a “special offer” of my services to ten slected organizations in the entire country. Trom those 10 mail pieces, I booked six speeches. You can make a special offer for anything. And you should.”
