Go Deep

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Networking has changed a lot in the last 8 years. Social Media, Text, E-mail, new ways to manage contacts in and out of your pipeline has created “snow storm” of information.

How do you cut through the noise? Go DEEP! Deep with your connections, deep with your follow up, and deep with your relationships.

Last week, one of my action board members (whom I pass business to pretty regularly) and I ‘locked’ ourselves into a local Paradise Cafe for half an afternoon.

Here is what we did:

1. I described to him my ideal target client, and helped him write a bridging conversation and introduction. He did the same thing for me.
2. We opened all of our social media connections, our databases.
3. We then preceded to ‘key word’ our databases with phrases like technology, Marketing Firms, Agencies, etc.
4. I then identified a possible connection for my board member. He agreed, so I sent him a bridging e-mail
5. He then followed up with a thank you and a reply to all hoping to get connected.

We set about 25 appointments (between the two of us) in four hours. Meanwhile, he now has a complete understanding of our sales process and my ideal client, and since then has bridged to another couple of prospects.

What is so powerful about this process is that we both agreed that alone we couldn’t have produced the kind of results we did together. We even blogged and posted to all our mediums to edify the other.

Since this experience, we have been running all our board meetings “laptop open” – bridged to our tools.
