Sell Information

No one would argue that the Internet has changed the world, perhaps even the way most businesses do business – BUT it hasn’t replaced business, nor will it. What it has done is expand business and the realms of opportunity. Dan Kennedy preaches that the Internet should be treated like what it is, another media you can use to communicate with clients, generate leads, and of course make sales – BUT not treated as a replacement for your business or communications.
With that in mind, the one area that the Internet has affected in our society is the availability of INFORMATION. People can literally look up anything and everything they need, want, or are just curious to know. Because of this oddity in our world, the click world we are now in, people have become information seekers, about anything and everything–which brings me to the newest revolution in business—Selling Information.

Some real life examples are websites that sell access to information; consumer reports, magazine companies, medical sites, etc. They are predominately subscription-based, but provide a non-tangible product, information – whether they sell one unit or one million, it costs the same. They are selling access to knowledge, resources…information. This idea is in the non-Internet world as well. Probably the most notable is in the personal development world and business arena. (This book is INFORMATION.) Of course, you remember the infomercials with the Question Guy, Tony Robbins, Real Estate gurus and many others with similar presentations. They are all selling information.

Now, I’m not talking about spending your money – but about how you can use this idea to generate enormous amounts of profits based upon things you already know and have.

What and How – Let’s say you sell appliances…sell a book on secrets and care of appliances to all your clients, or a report about kitchen set-up and design… If you have a hair salon…sell information about various styles and “how-to” procedures, or specific step-by-step instructions and daily actions for healthy hair, etc. If you provide service of some kind, plumbing, air condition, trash, etc.…sell books about “how to never need me again…” or “making your house a healthier place…”

Look, you know your business better than I do; and I guarantee I can talk with you for no more than ten minutes and give you numerous ideas about WHAT information you can sell and HOW to sell that information to your clients! Come on; let’s think even bigger than this.

Real Money – Most people making a majority of their income from information are doing so by selling it not just locally, but globally. It doesn’t have to be on the Internet, but that just makes sense, doesn’t it? You see, information is the one thing you can do without doing, anywhere you want to do it. Also, these reports and information products are also a lure to get future clients to do business with you – you might provide a FREE Report to get clients to come to your business or to buy your information – which then also sells them on your other products and services.

Remember, you are looking to multiply your income and create different areas for getting income. Information is usually treated and marketed as a separate thing, a separate area of your business. Oh, and one more thing, once you get some experience under your belt, or at least some understanding, you can then become the expert not just a provider or business owner in your industry – you can sell INFORMATION to others that want to do what you will then know how to do and be doing!

At the highest level, your information – what you know – will become far more valuable to people investing in themselves, who will then turn around and make a huge return in the area of life or business in which they have invested their money and their effort.
